GCF Main Grants Panel Member – Volunteer Opportunity

Would you like to give back to your community?

  • Do you have a good understanding of Gloucestershire’s communities?
  • Do you want to ensure those who are marginalised or vulnerable have the best opportunities to thrive?
  • Would you like to make a difference in your county?

Gloucestershire Community Foundation is looking for three new volunteer grant panel members to join our Main Grants Programme panel that award funding for community groups and charities that work to support communities across Gloucestershire.

About Gloucestershire Community Foundation

At Gloucestershire Community Foundation our vision is to bring together the talent, skills and resources available across Gloucestershire to help support disadvantaged people and build vibrant communities. In 2024, through our grant making and working with donors, we distributed more than £400,000 to groups and individuals in communities throughout the county.

About the panel

The Main Grants programme benefits people experiencing inequality or disadvantage.

The programme supports a wide variety or inspiring and creative work giving priority to activities that:

  • Enable people to take opportunities that would otherwise not be available
  • Reflect the concerns and priorities of people living and working in the area
  • Involve local people in improving their community

We are especially keen to recruit panel members with knowledge, or experience of living/working within communities in Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Stroud and the Cotswolds.

About panel members

Grants panel members:

  • Share their knowledge of the county, Gloucestershire’s communities and vulnerable/marginalised people
  • Assess applications for funds from community and charity groups that are making a difference in the daily lives of young people.
  • Attend and prepare for three two-hour meetings a year
  • Read and analyse information
  • Share their views succinctly and clearly
  • Maintain confidentiality

Diversity is taken into consideration when recruiting members to funding panels to try to ensure fair representation of the communities we serve. Diversity is considered in terms of gender, marital status, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, disability, age, gender reassignment, or religion or belief as well as relevant skills and job-related experience.
