We wanted to share a special message from ⚜️Julie Kent MBE⚜️ our lovely High Sheriff of Gloucestershire. The role is voluntary, but of huge importance in the county. Representing the Crown in the county for law and order; their duties include supporting the judiciary, police, emergency services, and voluntary organisations, with a focus on crime reduction and community engagement, particularly with young people.

“There are so many reasons I could give to encourage people to volunteer but here are two big ones…It improves your mental health and wellbeing plus research shows that those who volunteer live longer.

Make it suit you – if you love cooking – help out in a kitchen somewhere or if you love knitting – offer to set up a knitting group in a charity or care home somewhere.” Julie Kent
