Businesses & Public Sector Organisations
Charitable giving is an important way for a company or public sector organisation to strengthen its role in the community. As well as providing something for your employees to get involved in, it provides an opportunity for you to have a positive impact on the area in which you operate. We see many examples of businesses who want to support their local community but struggle to manage all the requests they receive. This can also be said of public sector organisations, where money needs to be targeted and distributed effectively and quickly , Community Foundations are the answer
Our expertise in grant-making and in-depth knowledge of local needs means we can target grants very accurately. We’re local experts in connecting those who want to give support, with the community organisations that are most in need; we manage and distribute funds so effectively we get money to where its needed.
Named funds
By setting up your own corporate named fund your charitable giving can have a real impact. You can establish funds to meet your company needs. For example, you might want to support causes that align to your company values; or simply fund projects that run within the geographical area in which you operate. You set the criteria, we’ll recommend a programme of giving.
Employee benefits
Getting your employees involved in supporting local causes is a great way to boost morale and bring staff together. Working with a community foundation also means that we can handle the day to day management, leaving your staff charity team to get on with the important fundraising. We can also help you set up a payroll giving scheme.
Gifts of Shares
Businesses can get tax relief for gifts to charity of certain shares and securities. This is in addition to the relief business can claim for them when calculating capital gains tax. The company can get tax relief when you give or sell to a charity at less than market value, any qualifying shares or securities. However, a company cannot get tax relief for the gift of its own shares.
