London Marathon runner Pete raises over £1,000!

We’re absolutely delighted for Pete Curtis, a local supporter of GCF, for completing the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April realising a huge personal achievement!

After getting fit over the last couple of years, Pete has literally gone from couch to 5k – to running a marathon, an amazing feat.

“The race was amazing, the massive crowd seemed to be out just for me, cheering me on every step of the way. I started off well taking on board the advice of not starting of too fast. At mile 13 I was on track reflecting the pace and distance I had completed in my training. At mile 18 all numbers of pace and timings were out of the window. The heat and distance had taken its toll and it was about the finish line. For the next 8.2 miles I dug deep and through desperate determination I crossed the finish line in sub 5:20:00 (05:19:59!!)”

Not only did Pete achieve his own personal goal, he also smashed his fundraising target of £750 by raising over £1,000 including Gift Aid.

We are so pleased for Pete and hope he has had some much needed rest after his incredible run.

A huge thank you to Pete and for everyone that supported him.
