OpenThe Cheltenham Gold Cup Centenary Community Fund has been developed to ensure that the centenary running of Cheltenham Racecourse’s greatest race provides a legacy that has a positive impact on those that live and work in the vicinity of the racecourse.
The fund is jointly operated between Gloucestershire Community Foundation, the Rotary Clubs of Cheltenham and Cheltenham Racecourse.
Various fundraising initiatives continue to be staged and the proceeds from these events and occasions will then be distributed back to good causes and charities that operate in and around Cheltenham area.
The fund distributed its first grants in October 2024 and remains open to receive applications for grants of up to £2,000 from organisations working in and based within Cheltenham Borough.
Grants will be made from Cheltenham Gold Cup Centenary Fund to support local charitable activity.
The objectives of the fund shall be to support:
- Registered charities
- Recognised, established community groups promoting sport, art, music or health and well-being
- Schools and playgroups
- Sporting, art or music groups or societies
- Other not for profit organisations
Whilst the fund will support any of the above charitable activities within Cheltenham, priority will be given to:
- Organisations working with young people
- Organisations based within 3 miles and 2 furlongs of Cheltenham Racecourse (the distance of the Cheltenham Gold Cup)* Please see the map included within the grants programme criteria.
Exclusions
The fund will not support the following:
- Individuals
- Political groups or activities promoting political beliefs.
- Activities promoting religious beliefs
- Projects that take place before an application can be processed,
- Activities that are intended to raise funds for other organisations.
- Activities outside Cheltenham

How to Apply
Please complete an online Application Form using the link at the bottom right of the screen marked ‘Apply Now’
You can return to your online application form as many times as is needed, and save it as you go along. The online form link can also be shared with colleagues, or other parties, if more than one person needs to contribute to the form.
Once received, our Grants Manager will review the application form and contact you if any further information is required to help the panel reach a decision. Applications will then be reviewed by the grants panel who will make a decision base don the merits of your application. The Grants Manager will be in touch as soon as possible following the panel meeting to provide you with the panel decision as well as any feedback regarding your application.
As part of the full online application process you will be asked to attach the following supporting documents:
- A constitution/governing document/set of rules, that sets out the purpose of your organisation and how it is managed.
- A copy of your most recent annual accounts or financial records (if not already publicly available). If you do not have financial records that cover a full year then you will need to provide the records you currently have.
- A safeguarding policy if your organisation works directly with children or vulnerable adults.
- A quote for any items to be purchased with the grant
- If your application is successful, we will also request a copy of a bank statement or other evidence of a bank account in the name of your organisation. The bank account must have at least 2 signatories. Alternatively, if you belong to a small organisation that does not have a bank account, another charitable organisation can look after the funds for you, but you must provide written authorisation from the organisation that will do this.
