Nailsworth Youth Club received a grant of £1,500 from the High Sheriff Grant programme towards their ‘Good in the Hood’ project to plan and deliver community projects in the Forest Green area of Nailsworth.
“Activities included a number of litter picks making and delivering packed lunches, making and delivering cakes, and a community event at the beginning of the summer holidays 2022.
There was a lot of support from local people, local police, Stroud youth Support, Forest Green Rovers and also local Councillors came along, the local councillors cooked the BBQ. The young people also designed their own logo for hoodies that have been purchased. Some of the young people in the group enjoyed a trip out Go Carting to celebrate what they had achieved.
One of our Good in the hood group became a senior volunteer at the youth club through the project, when he finished school last September and went to college we offered him a paid position at the youth club. He has become a very valued member of the team and a positive role model to younger members of the youth club.”
