Stroud Beresford supporting families living in refuges during lockdown

Stroud Beresford Group (SBG) is the only women’s refuge in Gloucestershire. GCF has provided two grants to the charity this year, totalling £6,585.

The first grant enabled the charity to buy essential items for families in its refuge. This ensured that families could safely isolate within the shared accommodation refuge. Living in a refuge can be frightening and lonely for children. The grant from GCF also provided vital activity packs for the children, helping them to experience normal childhood activities.

The second grant supported families who had been living at the refuge to move forward with their lives and address barriers caused or exacerbated by the pandemic.

“The items for family life were particularly important in the winter lockdown when communal living was particularly difficult for families. We were able to ensure that mums and families had access to items to support learning, development, wellbeing and to meet their day to day needs.”
